Privacy Policy

In short: we collect only what we need to run the marketplace, we never sell your data, your contact details and exact location stay private until you choose to share them, and you can access or delete your data at any time.

1. Who we are

GetHelpy is the data controller for the personal data processed on the platform. You can reach us about privacy at privacy@gethelpy.app.

2. Data we collect

Account data: your name, phone number, email, and the codes used to sign you in.

Profile data (helpers): your bio, photos, services, languages, experience, approximate area and postal code.

Location data (families): your home address and postal code. These are kept private and used only to show an approximate area and to power "nearby" matching — your exact address is shared with a helper only when you choose to share it in chat.

Children's details: minimised information you choose to add (such as a first name or nickname, age group, languages, allergies or notes).

Messages, reports and the content you submit, plus basic usage and device information needed to run and secure the service.

3. How we use your data

To operate the service: matching, search, profiles and secure messaging.

For verification, safety and moderation, including reviewing reports.

To send notifications you have asked for, and to maintain, protect and improve the service.

To comply with our legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

We rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the service); our legitimate interests (keeping the service safe, preventing fraud and improving it); your consent where we ask for it (for example, non-essential features); and compliance with legal obligations.

5. How we share data

Other users see only what is needed to connect. A helper's exact location stays private — only an approximate area is shown. Your home address is shared with a helper only when you choose to share it in chat.

We use trusted service providers (such as hosting, messaging and notification providers) under contract to operate the service. We may disclose data where required by law.

We never sell your personal data.

6. Children's data

Information about children is kept to a minimum and is shown to a helper only after you choose to connect or share it. Parents and guardians control what is entered. We do not create accounts or profiles for children.

7. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active and for as long as needed for legal, safety and dispute-resolution purposes. After that, we delete or anonymise it, subject to any retention required by law.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time.

You can export or delete your data from your account settings, or contact privacy@gethelpy.app for any data-protection request.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including code-based sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we put appropriate safeguards in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

We use only the essential cookies needed to run the app and keep you signed in. See our Cookie Policy for details.

12. Changes and complaints

We may update this policy and will notify you of material changes.

If you believe your data is not handled lawfully, you can complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Cyprus.
