Community Standards

Last updated 24 June 2026 · Applies to every member of GetHelpy

GetHelpy connects families with people who help in their homes and with their children. That only works on trust. Everyone — families and helpers — agrees to these standards when they join.

Treat everyone with respect

Communicate kindly and without discrimination — regardless of background, nationality, religion or family situation. No harassment, hate or abusive language.

Be honest

Describe your experience, skills and needs truthfully. Don't misrepresent who you are, exaggerate qualifications, or post fake reviews or references.

Put children's safety first

The wellbeing of children always comes first. Never put a child at risk, and never share photos of children you care for without the family's explicit consent.

Keep contact and arrangements clear

Communicate through GetHelpy until you're comfortable. Honour the agreements you make — times, rates and commitments — and give fair notice if plans change.

Protect privacy

Only share another person's contact details or personal information with their consent. Don't use anything you learn through GetHelpy for any purpose other than the help arranged.

Speak up

If something feels wrong or unsafe, report it. Looking out for one another keeps the whole community safe.

Never work under the influence

Never care for children or work in someone's home under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is treated as a serious safety violation.

Respect the home

Treat someone's home and belongings with care, and leave them as you found them. Don't invite unauthorised guests or open the door to strangers while you're responsible for a child or a home.

Don't post about each other

Don't share photos, conversations or details about families or helpers on social media or anywhere else without their consent.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the Cyprus emergency line 112 first. GetHelpy reviews reports but is not an emergency service.

How we enforce this. We look at each report in context. Depending on severity, the outcome ranges from a friendly reminder to permanent removal:

Minor slip-ups

E.g. running late without notice, or an incomplete profile. Usually a reminder or a nudge to put it right.

Trust violations

E.g. dishonesty, fake reviews, discrimination, or repeatedly breaking agreements. May lead to a warning, lost features, or removal.

Safety concerns

E.g. putting a child at risk, working under the influence, theft, threats, or harassment. Immediate suspension and, where warranted, permanent removal and escalation to authorities.

Reports are confidential — the person reported won't see who reported them. You can report anyone from their profile or a conversation via Report a concern.

A note on responsibility. GetHelpy gives you tools to choose well — verified profiles, references, reviews and secure messaging — but you decide who you work with. Review profiles, check references, message first, and meet in a public place before any arrangement. Tell someone you trust where you'll be.

These standards work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Final wording should be confirmed with a Cyprus/EU legal advisor before launch.
